How Facebook kept Investors Happy while Battling through a Year of controversies
Facebook had a really tumultuous year in 2019. Lawmakers, users, and even some company executives criticized the company for a variety of scandals. In July, the Fair Trade Commission slapped Facebook with a $5 billion fine, the largest in its history. Then, after announcing its cryptocurrency project Libra, CEO Mark Zuckerberg was called to testify in front of Congress. Yet, in the face of all of these controversies, Facebook remained king of social media — with its stock up over 50 percent this year.
